Chasing Dreams

from Growing Pains (Bonus) by Siobhan Donnelly

/

lyrics

Danny’s stuck working the scrap yard
Scrimping and saving for rent
Wished the teachers had helped him at school more
To get out of this town he’s hell bent

Dreams of touring the world still
Singing with the road at his feet
But when the landlord starts baying for blood now
It’s hard not to admit defeat

When your dreams fill your head
But you feel like life’s dead
And you can’t seem to turn things around
There’s nothing to do but to hum that old tune
And refuse to let life get you down (At least not today)

Anna’s studying at law school
Working bar nights to cover the fees
First in her family to get there
They’re so proud of what she can achieve

She wants to work in the city
Fighting for justice and truth
But if the government keep upping the fees still
She’ll be another unemployed youth

When your dreams fill your head
But you feel like life’s dead
And you can’t seem to turn things around
There’s nothing to do but to hum that old tune
And refuse to let life get you down (At least not today)

Things get worse, the divide gets bigger
Bankers count their notes, whilst we all just shiver
You can get out, But you can’t stay in
You’re stuck in a rut, That’s caving in

When your dreams fill your head
But you feel like life’s dead
And you can’t seem to turn things around
There’s nothing to do but to hum that old tune
And refuse to let life get you down (At least not today)
